Raiders' Bush to begin season on PUP list
Not surprisingly, Oakland Raiders rookie running back Michael Bush will begin the season on the physically unable to perform list. The fourth-round pick was expected to be a Heisman Trophy candidate for the Louisville Cardinals last year, but he broke his leg in the season opener, and that injury is still hampering him now.
Commentary: Bush was a smart choice by Oakland, which knew it was getting a banged-up, high-potential ballcarrier who would need some more time to heal from offseason surgery. The 6-foot-2, 247-pounder will miss the first six weeks of the season, and the Raiders hope he'll be able to make an impact after.
Fantasy Football Impact: Bush might be an option for the stretch run of the fantasy season; for now, though, take a flier on Raiders starter LaMont Jordan, who's looking for a bounce-back season. If he can't step up, Dominic Rhodes, who will miss the first four games of the campaign because of a suspension, could become a free-agent option in October.
