Michael Bush Looks Good in Raiders Camp

If he had stayed healthy during Louisville's 2006 season, Michael Bush might have been a first-round draft pick. Instead, he broke his leg in Louisville's first game and ended up a fourth-round pick.

But the early reports out of the Oakland Raiders' off-season activities have indicated that Michael Bush is making enough progress that people watching him can't even tell which leg he broke last year. And if that leg is 100 percent by the time the regular season starts, Michael Bush may end up being the steal of the 2007 draft.

"I'm looking to play," Michael Bush said. "It's just a bone injury. Those heal. It's already been about nine months, so it's about time for me to get going."

There's talk that the Oakland Raiders could hold Michael Bush out for most of the regular season, but Michael Bush thinks he'll be ready to play in September. With LaMont Jordan and Dominic Rhodes ahead of Michael Bush on the depth chart, there's no reason to push him before he's ready, but there's also no reason to hold him out if he's healthy. Michael Bush might end up contributing more as a rookie than JaMarcus Russell does.
